Saltier 914 baby scale July 13, 2008 Sandra L. Pankratz (Wisconsin) 35 out of 36 found this review helpful
I bought this scale to weigh my cats as I have one that is 14 lbs and should be about 8 lbs (adopted her at that weight). I also have 5 others that I want to monitor their weight to keep them healthy. The cats are pretty good at staying on the scale and it registers quickly to get a weight; some of them love to lay in it. It appears to be very accurate as the weight did not fluctuate when I weighed them several times. I have only had it about 2 months and only use it about once a month so cannot attest to its long-term reliability but it seems like a good product to me. Since a half a pound is a big deal to a cat, I wanted something to give me ounces and be accurate and it seems to do both.
Very Nice Scale May 21, 2004 R. Jones (KC,MO) 25 out of 26 found this review helpful
We had originally purchased a cheaper scale that was not digital. I used it a few times and it was very hard to get an accurate reading. I took it back and bought this one instead. It is wonderful! It automatically sets itself to zero when it's turned on. If you want to weigh the baby with a diaper on, you can weigh a spare diaper and the scale will off-set to make up for the additional weight. It's amazing to see how fast my son is growing. It does convert to a toddler scale when the child is able to stand.
put our minds at ease June 3, 2008 E. Foster 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
God, what a life-saver and de-stresser! Our breast-fed infant was gaining weight slowly, and 2-3 doctors all had diff. weights and opinions. Finally, we bought this scale, and I can easily and accurately weigh her, how much she eats per feeding (per breast even). It helps me gauge what I need to do to help my milk supply and also to monitor her weight. Now she's fine on the growth chart. Since breastfeeding moms have no x-ray vision, this is a HUGE HELP!!!!!
Wonderful product! May 18, 2008 Sluggie (Oahu, Hawaii) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This product is better than the weight machine my vet has! I love the hold button which gives you a weight even though your critter is moving. One of my better buys indeed. My eight dogs seem to feel very secure as they sit or lie down.
accurate and easy to use May 14, 2008 J. Beale (United States) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
The Salter 914 scale readout is repeatable, and as far as I can determine by comparison with other, more precise scales, my copy is accurate to +/- 10 grams (which is its readability, or last digit). That is actually surprising for a consumer product. Generally you should always center the weight on the scale, but placing a 6.53 kg weight anywhere on the tray (that didn't actually tip it over) does not shift the readout more than 10 g. The weight readout is stable even with some baby limbs waving around (have not tried to weigh a vigorous fussing baby). All of these factors point to a high quality design. Cheaper scales may have the same specs on paper (max weight & readability) but not deliver the stability or accuracy.
