Highly Recommend! September 19, 2007 L. Berkey 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
My only regret is that I didn't have this product months ago, even before hip replacement surgery. It's sturdy and makes a tremendous difference in the process of getting up and getting down.
Need a little Help? April 20, 2009 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
My Mother will be 100 yrs old this year so she need a little help getting up and down. She is short 5'2" and I was concerned that the arms might be to high for her on a regular toilet but they turned out to be just right. I used the lowest settings for the legs and the closest of the two settings where it connects to the toilet. To attach The safety rails just remove the two bolts holding the toilet lid on, slide the new safety rail bracket between the toilet and the toilet seat, replace the original toilet lid bolts, insert one rail in the bracket then insert the other rail in the bracket, install the two bolts that attach the rails to the bracket, then thighten up all the connections. Make sure all connections are tight or the safety rails will feel loose. The rails will raise up a small amount to allow for cleaning of the floor under the feet. The safety rails have been a great help for her.
Safety Rail Knee Saver December 24, 2007 Barbara J. Allen 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was very easy to install. It has really helped me. Getting up is less stressful for my knees since I have gained so much weight. I would recommend this highly for those who have knee and weight problems. Working on the weight problem will help in the long run.
good substitute for wall-mounted grab bar September 5, 2009 BargainHunter (East Coast) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Shipped quick and all pieces in box. Easy enough for even me to assemble it.
I was a little concerned that it wouldn't work with the new toilet seats that have those fancy "X" screws to hold the seat on (e.g., American Standard elongated toilet seat - slow close) but it works fine. What I couldn't tell from the pix at first was that the round bar that goes across the back does NOT get fastened to the toilet seat - there's a flat plate that attached to the toilet seat, the tubular piping goes into the round tunnel attached to the flat plate, and then some turn knobs are inserted into the top of the tunnel and screwed down to hold the tubular piping to the flat plate. As stated, legs lift for cleaning underneath. We put the legs in the outer-most position to allow room for the user to lean a tad from one side to another. (Therefore, it is a bit confining; think of it as using a restroom stall where the stalls are very clsoe together and doing your business in one of those stalls.)
The only other caution I can see is if someone in your family gets up in the middle of the night to use the rest room and doesn't remember that these arms are installed, they could possibly bump into them in a dark bathroom. (Considering just keeping the farthest arm installed and removing the other for easier access to the toilet but thought I'd try this first.)
Using this until I can find a competent tile expert to install grab bar next to toilet without cracking my wall tiles!
It works! August 4, 2008 Eyes to See (Northeast, USA) We got this for my uncle, who had fallen a few times in the bathroom, and who sometimes suffered with knee problems that made it difficult to stand up from the toilet.
It was easy to install and has added security and stability for him. I am very pleased.
